Often referred to as a dormer, this oeil de boeuf window frame originates from France, dating back to the 1800s. Originating in the 17th century, these dormers were commonly found adorning the upper levels of the steeply sloped roofs of French chateaux. Featuring a spacious glass pane in the interior, these dormers served the purpose of ushering natural light into dimly lit spaces like attics.
